About me

TheNormalOne_SophieGiddensPhotography-77.jpg

Cece (she/they) is a British-Australian theatre director and dramaturg with a focus on queer and feminist work. She is committed to creating thought-provoking, intersectional work that challenges societal norms and engages audiences in meaningful dialogue about the issues of the world.  As a result, she is interested in a mix of new writing, musical theatre, film and revisiting classic plays.

Along with being from both the UK and Australia, Cece grew up around the world (specifically, in France, Switzerland, and Singapore) before returning to the UK in 2019. This international perspective not only provides them with a fluent French but also informs their work and helps them approach each project with nuance and cultural sensitivity.

Cece trained at Mountview, completing an MA in Theatre Directing in 2025. While there, she completed a masters thesis on the topic of 'Queering' as it relates to the theatre rehearsal room. This has informed her directing style which is one that focuses on collaboration and inclusivity.
